Cheap Garden Sheds Can Have Many Purposes

July 1st, 2009 | Posted in Home   Add Comment

People often buy cheap garden sheds entirely for the storage of extra items that are laying around the house and yard. There are many other uses for sheds, however, such as workshops or mini greenhouses. If the shed is big enough for a desk to be placed inside it can be turned into a workspace. Items that need fixing can be worked on in such an area or it can be used as a retreat. During cold winter months a cheap garden storage sheds can be converted into a small greenhouse. All that needs to be added is a few extra lights and heating of some sort for the potted plants.

Guard Dog Security

June 30th, 2009 | Posted in Pets :: Pet Care   Add Comment

If you plan to keep your guard dog indoors, you should always have a supply of food and water available, as he will be there when you aren’t. You will also need to give him access to an outdoor area as well, so he can use the bathroom. A fenced in yard is an ideal place for a guard dog to go outside, as he can come and go as he pleases. Sometimes, a burglar will try and sneak around the back entrance - which is where giving a guard dog outside access can really come in handy.

Before buying the dog, you should always carefully research the species and where you plan to get your dog from. Police dogs or dogs that have been trained for protection are ideal, as they already know how to defend things. Dobermans and Pit Bulls are great for protection as well, simply because they are well known for being very vicious.

If you carefully research your options and get your guard dog from a reliable source as well as stay ever mindful of caring for dogs, you shouldn’t have much of anything to worry about. You should never get your dog from a lesser known or poor source, as the dog may be poorly trained or not in good health. A guard dog can be a great addition to any home - providing you get a dog in good health and more than capable to fend of burglars.

Graphire vs Graphire2

June 21st, 2009 | Posted in Computers & Technology   Add Comment

I’m finally getting rid of my old mouse tablet and getting a new one. I’ve had it for years now and it’s outlasted both an HP desktop PC and a Toshiba laptop computer. It still works ok but it’s just a bit small in size at 4×5.5 inches and I think getting a bigger one for my widescreen monitor would be great. It’s also got some gunk stuck to it that won’t come off and while it doesn’t get in the way of drawing on the tablet with the stylus, it’s not exactly aesthetically pleasing.

I’ve been looking at a few different replacement models, including the Adesso Cybertablet and the Wacom Graphire mouse & tablet. I thought about getting a Wacom Intuos, but I don’t think it will be worth it for me to shell out the extra money. I’m into graphic design, but I’m no professional, so I think a more economical model will do just fine. I think I’ve almost settled on the Graphire for sure, but I’m not exactly sure of the difference between the Graphire and Graphire2 models. The Graphire2 has a different shape at the base of the tablet, but is it also that it is bluetooth enabled? I wanted to order online, but I might have to head down to the computer store to ask a salesperson about it first.

Used office desk a great deal… of pain

June 20th, 2009 | Posted in Home :: Home Improvement   Add Comment

I went to a local garage sale last week and bought an office desk off of one of my neighbors for pretty cheap. The guy is from Georgia, or maybe Kentucky, just by trying to figure out from his accent. I don’t actually know him all that well is the point. I thought I could trust my neighbors to warn me if they were selling me something that was about to fall apart, but I guess you never can tell. This desk was almost completely eaten out on the inside by termites or something and I didn’t realize this until I got it home. I guess I should have checked it out better, but like I said, I trusted neighborly disclosure.

I found this article today that talks about examining used furniture for sale for defects and what-not. It also talks about what to ask the seller so that you can judge whether the item’s in fine quality by their answers. It also talks about buying used hotel furniture from hotels that are either going out of business or just remodeling. This is a really novel idea that I hadn’t thought of so I looked into it some more. It appears that this is more common than you might expect. I’m going to drive around to a couple of hotels this week and see if I can find out any information about where and how they sell their old furniture. Just so long as I don’t have to drive by my ol’ Southern pal’s place.

Sustain Your Future on Earth by Installing Solar Panels

June 19th, 2009 | Posted in Home :: Home Improvement   Add Comment

While there are many energy options these days, from wind turbines to solar panels, I believe be more efficient at sustaining our future by installing solar panels.  After doing some research on creating my own solar cells, i decided that this would be the best option for stopping my dependence on energy created from fossil fuels.  Because I have a large amount of land with ample supplies of sunlight, it didn’t matter much to me that there was a pretty high upfront cost for hardware because I would be able to make it back in just a few years.  After getting them installed, I sit back and watch my money being saved.

Uncover Popup Stopper Software to Eliminate Unsolicited Ads

June 16th, 2009 | Posted in Computers & Technology :: Internet   Add Comment

During a recent Internet surfing expedition, I think I spent more time fighting with undesirable advertising than actually looking for the things that interested me. After an hour of frustrating blocking, I began a search for a Popup Stopper Software. I researched a variety of options, including disabling versus remover software and killer versus blocking software. This time ended up being very valuable to myself and my computer. I am now free to surf the Internet without the obtrusive advertising that used to manage to find its way into my computer. I now have a program that will allow me to decide what ads I will see and what will be removed.

Learn Home Building Skills at Apex Technical School

June 15th, 2009 | Posted in Reference & Education :: Education   Add Comment

I have always wanted to work with my hands. When I took my first industrial tech class in sixth grade, I knew that my future would have something to do with building things. When I finished high school, I decided to go to Apex Technical School to learn the craft of building a home. The specialized classes that I was able to take taught me about the finer points of plumbing and electrical work. I was also able to hone my carpentry skills through hands on classes and lessons. Going to this school was the best choice that I could have made, and now I am very close to my dream of starting my own home building business.
