Well the White House and the “main stream” media will tell you it is over. My people that are over there will tell you diferently.
For all practical purposes the war is over. The reason you are not hearing much right now is that the media does not want you comparing the current situation over there with the claims of ‘defeat’ they kept making.
Pretty much the mainstream denial thing for the first question. for the second, there are many personal reasons, but the only one a soldier needs to know other than his own, is weather or not the commander in Chief deems sed war necessary. My personal reason is because of how The former leader of Iraq was gassing the kurds in northern iraq with mustard gas. Bet you didn’t know that one did you?
According to recent news reports Iraqi civilian deaths are beginning to rise again in recent months compared to the beginning of the year.
There is suprisingly little news on the state of the country Western media is focusing on Afghanistan, Iran and Israel-Palestine.
The war is still being fought because as Colin Powell told President Bush Jnr before the invasion of Iraq. “You break it you own it”. So we are still there now.
Another post stated he supports the war because of Saddams mustard gas attacks in the 1980’s against the Kurds. At the time the US administration said Iraq was a force for stability in the region and Donald Rumsfeld visited Iraq after the gas attacks and shook Saddams hand.
Arab Kurdish tensions are now rearising with attacks from both sides. Once allied forces pull out the Arab central government may start attacking Kurds openly again. Is this progress?
