Data Protection Companies In The Land Of Cotton

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I'm looking for tapeless backup data protection companies south of the border, the Mason-Dixon border that is. I would like to be able to speak to someone who speaks my language, meaning Southern American English. If I have to, any American company that offers friendly support and a good product will do. I however, absolutely refuse to deal with clueless tech support from another country that barely has mastery of the English language. Now if you excuse me, I have some sweet tea to make and catfish to fry. Please let me know with a comment or email if you know of any companies that fit this description.

Open Source ERP Software Packages

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

Open Source erp software packages have a number of advantages over proprietary ERP software packages. The primary advantage of open source ERP is in terms of costs. Costs not only in terms of procurement but also in terms of operational and maintenance costs.

Open source software applications are built on open source technologies such as php, and mySql. Open source code is less processor and disk intensive than proprietary applications based on other technologies. As a result, hardware costs ten to be lower in the case of open source ERP.

An example of an accounting and business function ERP solution that is oriented towards small and medium sized businesses is Postbooks.

On New Security Software

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

New computer worms, Trojans, viruses, intrusive cookies, and other programs are being made everyday. Internet criminals are also always coming up with new ways to do their activities. As a result, New Security Software has to be developed constantly to battle these threats. With out new software, there would be no way to address new threats. New Security Software has arisen from the need to address grave threats to our computing security and our peace of mind. It seems however, thanks to current trends that there will continue to be a need for New Security Software in the future.

Avoid clicking on bogus emails that look legitimate

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

A good definition of phishing is an unsolicited email that asks you to update your account details or provide personal details through a bogus third party site. Often this site purports to be a major corporation. The email has the same look and feel but typically lacks the professionalism of the real thing. The third party sites are constructed for the short term exercise of extracting details form individuals who volunteer personal information. You should always avoid bogus emails and learn how to recognize them.
