Rules For Battered Spouse Immigration

Generally for battered spouse immigration a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident can file an application on behalf of a spouse or a child, so that they can either emigrate or stay in US But according to the new law you can self-apply to a US citizenship or a Lawful Permanent Residence ship, if you are a battered spouse married to a US citizen or to a Lawful Permanent Resident. For battered spouse immigration you must be legally married to the US citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident. If the marriage was terminated within the first 2 years of marriage then you can file a self-petition too. You must have been battered to extreme cruelty or must be the parent of the child who was battered to cruelty. You should have good character and the reason for your marriage should not be just to take the US citizenship.
