There’s More Than One Kind of Hypnosis

Everyone's seen a hypnotist, whether it be on TV, at a local show, or even at the office Christmas party. They make someone do something that's funny or unusual. These hypnotists work in a very obvious way. Everyone gets a big kick out of it, then the hypnotist snaps his fingers and the person's back to normal. That's what's called direct hypnosis.  There's a different type of hypnosis that's not well known, which is called indirect hypnosis or conversational hypnosis.  In this type of hypnosis, the hypnotist uses spoken and non-spoken cues to influence the subconscious mind of the subject completely without his or any onlooker's knowledge. You may think this sounds ridiculous, but its used by advertisers for ad campaigns all the time.  I bet you can remember a time you went shopping and grabbed something you didn't usually purchase. When you thought about it later, you realized it was because you saw it on TV a couple days before.  That's indirect hypnosis at its most basic.
