What It Takes To Become An Occupatioanl Therapist?

I have been working as an occupational therapist for five years now and get a lot of people asking me what it takes to be one. First of all, it takes a lot of personal skills and character. Of course, there are purely legal and formal requirements such as having a Master’s degree on Occupational Therapy, then you have to pass the occupational therapy board exam by NBCOT to get officially certified to practice this profession. But besides all that, you need a lot of character. You have to be optimistic by nature as you will have to motivate people who have disabilities, which obviously makes them feel depressed. It’s also important that you like helping people out.
