MEDICAL STUDENT DEBT ACCOUNTS FOR LOW MINORITY ENROLLMENT

More than eighty percent of all graduate medical students are in debt.  The median debt for graduates who owe public medical schools a debt is $100,000 and for those who owe private schools for their education is $135,000.  

medical student debt has been proven to be responsible for a significant decline for students who are entering the primary care fields.  Because of this situation only eleven percent of medical students is made up of African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanic Americans.  What is worse is that these groups account for twenty-five percent of the US population
