The electric went out, so the roller shutter doors wouldn’t work.

In an effort to protect the store from burglaries, the owner of the jewelry store that I work in recently installed roller shutter doors. I have worked at the store for fifteen years, and in that period of time, the store has been robbed three times. My boss hired security guards to man the store during off hours, but that was becoming very expensive. He figured the doors would be cheaper in the long run. Last night, I was in charge of closing the store and locking things up securely. The doors are operated by electric, and everyone told my boss that he should have a chain backup. He didn't listen. While closing up the store, the electric went out. The doors would not shut, and I had to call my boss to inform him of the situation. I stayed for an hour or so past my shift, when my boss called and told me that a security guard would be in to relieve me. A storm had hit the area, and power would not be restored until the next morning. I'll bet my boss wishes he had installed a chain backup for the doors.
