Central “Park It” When In New York
Take a break from your busy day in New York and enjoy Central Park, the most visited city park in the United States. Every year about 25 million people visit this 843 acre oasis located in Manhattan.
The park opened in 1859 and has been a National Historic Landmark since 1963. It was designed by landscape designer, Frederick Law Olmsted and architect Calvert Vaux. Believe it or not, this plush, natural looking park is actually landscaped including lakes and ponds.
Central Park is a great place to get some exercise or just relax. If you are into team sports, join in a game or be a spectator. There are running/walking tracks, skating rinks, playgrounds and even a zoo. Many people enjoy bike riding or walking the trails. It’s also a perfect location for bird watching.
Catch a show at the Delecorte Theater, an outdoor amphitheater, or a puppet show at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre. Nature lovers won’t want to miss the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary.
Get away from the busy city for a little while and get back to nature (yes, in the middle of the metropolis) at this beautiful New York attraction.
